Cafe Hopping: The Marshmallow Tree
The Marshmallow Tree is a cafe with a perfect name. Who wouldn't want to spend an afternoon at a place dedicated to marshmallows?
Located in an unassuming HDB block right next to the Telok Blangah MRT station, the cafe is fairly small, with one large community table surrounded by a couple other sitting spots.
My friend and I both order the rose cafe lattes, which were phenomenal. The coffee flavor was full, while the rose provided a really nice touch on top of it all. Highly recommended, one of my favorite drinks to date. And, to make things even better, we each received a freshly toasted marshmallow to nibble on as well.
Final bonus: the best latte art I've seen yet in Singapore. Mine looked like a fairly fierce phoenix, while my caffeine companion received a swan.
For dessert, as you can see above, we dove into a cookie-cake-type slice with vanilla ice cream on top, and covered in chocolate syrup. Both of us were quite satisfied after that treat.
The Marshmallow Tree is a very cool place where one can easily spend a few hours chatting or doing some work. It's small, intimate, comfortable, (look at that swing below), and again, the rose latte is wonderful.
